Abstract:
The condition of residual stresses in foundry products is of interest to those concerned with structural serviceability and efficient designing. This is particularly true of the light metals since the principle upon which their use is predicted is usually the desire for greater performance for less weight. Efficient design practices and proper cognizance of those factors affecting the structural performance are necessary to achieve optimum design efficiency.
