Abstract:  
Data showing the reasons for the damage, and its extent, that is caused by electrodeposited metals when plated by the methods now in common use. Processes whereby advantages of rebuilding by electroplating can be retained without loss of fatigue strength. Suggested developments in electroplating processes, whereby electro- deposited coatings may possibly be made as effective as shot peening in increasing fatigue strength of plated machine parts.
