Abstract:
This paper describe a 4-unit creep testing machine in which a specimen may be subjected to a fluctuating load consisting of a mean static load and and alternating load. The machine may also be used for constant load creep tests. In the case of the dynamic tests, the magnitude of the mean static load is maintained constant throughout the test and is uneffected by changes in length or stiffness of the specimen under test. Unlike previous machines developed for dynamic creep tests, the mean static load is maintained constant in this machine by dead weights acting through a lever arm.
