chronological account of the major steps in the development of impact treatment processes, from their inception prior to 1870 up to the present day, identifying the contributions of the many individuals concerned, is presented. The wide range of application of such processes is illustrated, as is the scale of application, and the place and importance of impact treatment processes in manufacturing industry is emphasized.
