Abstract:  
The favorable effect of shot peening of the fatigue strength of components of the most diverse kind, in particular springs, can be approximately optimized, if the shot peening factors, such as the kind of the shot peening system, the shot peening intensity and time, shot peening media (shape and hardness) surface covering of the workpiece and other features are taken inot account. These factors were described in detail by the author in a spearate treatise.
