Abstract:  
This paper presents an overview of high production shotp peening technology for automotive applications where specific fatigue strength benefits must be produced. Requirements, challenges, and benefits are discussed in light of auto industry trends. Examples of process engineering testwork required and successes from a technology and cost viewpoint are provided.
