Abstract:
The following is an excerpt from Blast Cleaning and Allied Processes - Volume 1, by H.J. Plaster. This book is an invaluable resource for our industry and we have been sharing parts of it with you in the last few issues of the newsletter. In the last issue we covered the patents issued through 1939. 1940: Over this particular era the search for the ideal centrifugal blast wheel was to continue. The Pangborn Corporation produced a number of designs of wheels that were patented in 1940 (Nos. 518183 and 522292) that had as a primary object to project the abrasive without the necessity to employ any throwing blades. None of these, which are reviewed later, reached the standard of effectiveness of the bladed centrifugalblast wheels.
