This invention relates to wire ropes and more specifically to a method of manufacturing wire ropes which results in prolonged life of the product in machinery applications, particularly where the rope duty imposes torsional and bending stress from changes in load. These are more or less uniformly distributed throughout the rope. The other type of duty results in more or less non-uniformly distributed stress in the rope usually caused by coiling and uncoiling and/or abrasion due to contact between the wires and with parts of the machinery.
