This invention is directed to peening apparatus, particularly adapted for peening turbine blades. Provisions are made for peening the blade structure initially with its edges covered and for peening the blade, structure with the protective covering removal prior to finalization of the peening operation. The protective component is usually in the form of a pliable material.
